Marsha P. Johnson
was an American gay liberation
activist, and a known drag Queen. Being known for her work in advocacy for gay rights, Marsha was one of the prominent figures in the
Stonewall uprising
of 1969.
Marsha was a founding member of the
Gay Liberation Front
and co-founded the radical activist group
Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries
(S.T.A.R.). She left this world way too soon, you may watch more about her life (and death) in her movie ‘
The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson’.
You can also find out more about her life as an advocate in her movie “Pay It No Mind”. (She often told people that the ‘P’ in her name stands for pay it no mind)Marsha is just one of many trans advocates that didn’t get the love they deserved while they spent their time here on earth. May we continue to always care for and love our trans sisters.
