So what is spoken word poetry, exactly? Well, spoken poetry is a form of expression- normally used to express issues of the community, including social justice, politics, and race. This form of poetry, though it is one of the oldest forms of poetry, has been used in our community most recently as a form to express ourselves further than just what is on a page – a way to tell a story, our own stories.
